ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani has been sworn in
as one of the top officials of the Foreign Service (FS). He is a retired
Foreign Secretary, having served as Ambassador to the United States, High
Commissioner to Australia, Deputy High Commissioner to India, Ambassador of the
European Union and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Defence Minister Lt Gen (retd) Anwar Ali Haider served as
adjutant general at GHQ in the Pakistan Army.
He has also served as chairman of Naya Pakistan Housing and
Development Authority.
Dr Shamshad Akhtar also served as finance minister in the
caretaker cabinet from June 2018 to August 2018. She also held the position of
the country’s first female governor of the State Bank of Pakistan.
She also served as senior advisor to then UN Secretary General
Ban Ki-moon and vice president of the World Bank.
Interior Minister Senator Sarfraz Bugti was also the Home
Minister and Tribal Affairs Minister of Balochistan from 2013 to 2018. He has
been a member of the Senate since March 2018. Information Minister Murtaza
Solangi is a senior journalist and broadcaster and was also associated with
VOA.
He also served as Director General Pakistan Broadcasting
Corporation during the PPP government from 2008 to 2013.
Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed is a television
anchor and cleric. He is popular for being the host of the morning religious
program on a private television channel.
Education Minister Madad Ali Sindhi is a well-known writer,
journalist and columnist.
The Sindhi Governor, who received the President Pride of
Performance Award, is also a board member of the Sindh Language Authority.
Health Minister Dr Nadeem Jan has an illustrious 24-year career working with
the United Nations, USAID, World Bank, European Union, DFID, INGOs and national
governments.
He has managed the world’s most difficult situations such
as Somalia, South Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Kenya, Afghanistan and
complex emergencies in FATA KP in Pakistan. Dr. Nadeem played a key role in the
development and implementation of Pakistan’s flagship polio program from 1996
to 2000.
