ISLAMABAD: Safara, who is in the federal
capital, did not take any interest in the swearing-in of the caretaker
government, 170 invitations were sent, no important ambassador came.
Foreign travelers are showing keen
interest in the upcoming elections of Pakistan. But their attention was
suddenly drawn to the Jaranwala incident where several houses and four churches
belonging to a particular community were targeted.
Top sources told The News that many
senior diplomats have contacted the Foreign Office to get details of the
incident and they are looking at the follow-up measures.
They are more interested in what was
the motive and nature of the provocation of the rioters. Sources said the
relevant section of the Foreign Office is answering these questions.
These foreign diplomatic missions
have forwarded the information received to their respective governments.
Sources said that diplomatic missions
have also sent letters to their respective countries regarding the indefinite
postponement of the general elections and they want to know the direction of
the Election Commission of Pakistan in this regard.
